BE. A GLOBAL DISCIPLE

What is DTN LEVEL 1?

DTN 1 is open to all discipleship group (“Dgroup”) members and is for those who want to understand what it means to be a global disciple of Christ. You will be taught the biblical foundations of missions, how missions is defined and where missions takes place, the history and participation of the church in missions, and then your role in missions derived from biblical missions roles.

GOING THROUGH DTN LEVEL 1

DTN LEVEL 1 is introductory, but it will challenge you. Christian apologist and educator Dr. Douglas Groothuis masterfully wrote,

If you… teach a little over people’s heads, they may reach up and grab it. Never insult anyone’s intelligence.
— Dr. Douglas Groothuis

DTN intends to challenge you to grasp missions. Through four modules, you will learn the basics of missions and how it is defined, an overview of the world’s cultures, religions, and missions fields, the history of the church in missions, and a unique-to-CCF module on discovering your personal role in missions, all of which paint a comprehensive introductory biblical portrait of missions-as-discipling-all-nations.

Book 1: Missions in God’s Word

Explore missions in God’s Word by discovering God’s heart for all nations from Genesis to Revelation. Then practice being a global disciple by sharing God’s missions mandate with others around you.

  • Participants will share about God's heart for all nations from the Bible with at least 5 people over the next week and begin Story of the Bible (SOTB) with a small group (family, Dgroup, friends).

Book 2: Missions in God’s World

Examine missions in God’s World by understanding the definition and scope of God’s global mission. You will then embark on a process of learning about, and from, the cultures and religions in God’s world.

  • Participants will engage and interview religious leaders and worshippers from unreligious, Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim backgrounds to learn from them by joining a CCF Beyond "field-trip" during the last week of Session 11.

Book 3: Missions and God’s Work

Experience missions and God’s work throughout church history. Then, put experience into application by following the model of the church and adopting an unreached people to love, pray for, and serve.

  • Participants will adopt a religious group (eg. Islam) and five unreached people groups within that religious group (eg. Tausug, Ma-ranao, Maguindanao, Sama, Yakan) to begin praying for daily and/or giving to regularly.

Book 4: Missions and God’s Worker

Equip for missions as God’s worker by discovering biblical roles in missions and your specific missions role. You will then engage in missions by dialoguing with leaders and individuals from other religions.

  • Participants will organize and engage in a 3-Day "Interfaith Dialogue" (held yearly) with Muslim leaders (Day 1), Hindu leaders (Day 2), and Buddhist leaders (Day 3) to experience others sharing their faith, and to be able to share their own faith in a neutral setting.

WHAT TO EXPECT

At CCF, we value holistic learning and transformation. Following the T-E-A Principle of Dr. Peter Tan-Chi:

DTN was developed to help you become a global disciple of Jesus Christ by transforming the way you think about God’s Word and God’s World, and the way you act as God’s Worker, doing God’s Work, in God’s World.

Because our priority is holistic – and because missions is serious business – our curriculum reflects holistic development.
